The five-story library located in the middle of Bangkok University includes a student lounge, a cyber center, a functional study area that can accommodate 1200 students per a day, a contemporary art and design gallery, and a museum containing a privately-owned collection of Southeast Asian ceramics.

The effective configuration of the limited space allows for all these functions. Due to its location and function, this building is designed to express the university’s image and is symbolic of campus life.

The symbols of the university - a book, a Cassia fistura bouquet, and a diamond - symbolizes knowledge, honor. These are applied to the design as functional areas, green areas, and the dome shape crowning the building.

Bustling areas such as the student lounge and the exhibition gallery can be easily accessed, while quiet areas such as research and study rooms are located on the third, fourth, and fifth floors.

With an opening at the center of the building, the library benefits from natural light and is thus energy efficient. The west-facing walls are detailed with fins which serve to deflect the intense sunlight and the heat of the afternoon. The whole design has been kept simple and constructed with prefabricated materials, which also reduced construction time.
