A family residence which also offers privacy to each of the family members, was the requirement of the client. Each room was thus designed as an individual suite complete with personal amenities and convenient access to the main common areas of the house, such as the living and dining rooms.

The main common areas are designed to serve two purposes. Firstly, to facilitate Buddhist rituals such as ceremonies offering alms to monks and making merit. This requires a chapel-like space in which to enshrine a large Buddha effigy and host a modest gathering of people. The second function is to provide a casual poolside entertainment area.

Accommodating the client’s requirements necessitated ample space, resulting in a large house and garden area, which also needed to be compact with a cozy, informal atmosphere and direct views of the garden.
