The Golden Jubilee Convention Hall at Khon Kaen University
was built in 1994. The building was designed to resemble a “Koob Kwian”, a
popular type of cart native to the Isan region, with the intent to preserve and
showcase the unique cultural and artistic heritage of Isan. After 24 years, the
building was starting to show signs of age and a renovation was in order.
The concept of the Golden Jubilee Convention Hall renovation
project was to retain the original characteristics, and apply the exterior
shapes and forms to the interior space design of the hall.
The 6,470-seat hall is a multipurpose venue with a maximum
capacity of 10,000 people. The refurbished hall is designed to provide services
to host a variety of activities such as conferences, seminars, exhibitions,
concerts and other events, at both the national and international level, with
increased efficiency.
