Central World Plaza has re-emerged as a result of renovation and expansion to the former Bangkok World Trade Center, which has stood for almost 20 years, and is now the largest shopping center in Bangkok’s best location.

Additions were made to various parts of the complex, including Zone D (9 stories with a 2-storey basement), Zone E (3 stories with a 2-storey basement), and Zone F (11 stories with a 2-storey basement). With an average height of seven stories, it is a massive structure with large and deep floor plates.

The shopping center can be accessed from many directions, including the Skywalk linked to the Bangkok Mass Transit System. The design offers a variety of spatial experiences, including multiple unique atriums which provide a sense of direction while also allowing in natural daylight, creating a feeling of openness.

To transform the large solid box, a new second-skin façade was wrapped around the length of the elevation, which includes an escalator and space in between. The façade glitters and encourages movement toward the front plaza. This remarkable façade is the longest curtain wall in Thailand and is a fitting introduction to one of the world’s finest multipurpose commercial complexes.
